More Johnson County Leaders Choose Steve Howe for District Attorney
LENEXA - Steve Howe released yet another slate of key endorsements from Johnson County civic leaders, this time comprising additional federal and local representatives.
Lenexa Mayor Mike Boehm, Roeland Park Mayor Steve Petrehn, DeSoto Mayor David Anderson, Olathe School Board member Jim Churchman, Shawnee city council members Dawn Kuhn and Neal Sawyer, as well as former 3rd District GOP Chairman Shane Jones and former U.S. Representative Vince Snowbarger have added their respective voices to the rising chorus of Johnson County leaders supporting Steve Howe for Johnson County District Attorney.
"Steve Howe's 18 years of experience are unmatched in this race." Boehm said. "Although elected, this position is one in which we need a professional, not a politician."

HOWE PLEDGES TO BE FULL TIME DISTRICT ATTORNEY
SHAWNEE - Steve Howe, Republican candidate for Johnson County District Attorney, underscored his proven commitment to Johnson County residents today.
Howe pledges . . .
▪ To be a full time District Attorney, with a minimum 40+ hour work week, mirroring his often 50-70 hour work weeks in the office from 1992 to 2007.
▪ To not run for higher political office, or lower office for that matter, eliminating the ambition of politics that has dominated the office under the politically ambitious Paul Morrison and Phill Kline.
▪ To not accept out-of-town personal speaking engagements during the work week unless directly related to law enforcement obligations and duties of the office.

JoCo Commissioner Ed Eilert leads impressive list of leaders, including Mayors Gerlach and
Copeland, announcing support for Howe at morning press conference
OLATHE - Johnson County Commissioner Ed Eilert led a morning press conference revealing a wave of endorsements for Steve Howe's candidacy for Johnson County District Attorney.
"Steve Howe is a veteran prosecutor who understands that public safety is a key component of our quality of life in Johnson County," Eilert said. "I am confident that Steve's experience and professionalism will quickly earn the public's trust in the Office of District Attorney."
Eilert was joined by fellow commissioners, Doug Wood and David Lindstrom, announcing support for Howe.
Area Mayors also announced their support for Howe. Mission Mayor Laura McConwell, Olathe Mayor Mike Copeland, Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach, and Prairie Village Mayor Ron Shaffer formally announced their endorsement of Howe.
"Cooperation between our police departments and the D.A. is paramount in the successful prosecution of criminals. I am therefore very encouraged by Steve Howe's strong, longstanding relationship with area law enforcement," Gerlach said.
Kansas House Majority Leader Ray Merrick also formally announced his support for Howe. Merrick was joined by his colleagues Rep. Jeff Colyer, and Rep. Arlen Siegfried.
Republican 3rd District Chairman Ernie Straub along with Johnson County Republican Party officials Marvin Kleeb and Brad Seiter added their endorsement of Howe as well. These Republican leaders join a fast growing coalition. Greg Musil and Charlotte O'Hara lead Howe's campaign committee. Civic leader Terry Dunn and former Attorney General Bob Stephan chair Howe's Steering Committee. Howe enjoys already announced support from state officials, including Sen. HOWE ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN TEAM
(Overland Park) Steve Howe, Republican candidate for Johnson County District Attorney, announced his campaign team today. Terry Dunn and former Kansas Attorney General Robert Stephan will serve as co-chairmen of Howe's Steering Committee which is comprised of numerous Johnson County business and civic leaders. Former Overland Park City Councilman Greg Musil and former Republican 3rd District chairwoman Charlotte O'Hara will serve as co-chairs of Howe's Campaign Committee.
"I know the qualities needed to be a successful prosecutor" said Stephan, "For more than 18 years, Howe has shown skilled and independent leadership as a prosecutor with public safety as his top priority and a genuine respect for our law enforcement officials."

STEVE HOWE ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY
FOR JOHNSON COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY
OLATHE (June 14, 2007) - Steve Howe announced his Republican candidacy for District Attorney from the steps of the Johnson County Courthouse. Howe, an 18 year seasoned prosecutor with more than 90 jury trials to his credit, was introduced by Kansas Representative Mike Kiegerl and former Republican Party Chairman Bob Bibb. Bibb and Kiegerl demonstrate Howe’s broad support across the spectrum within the Republican Party.
Howe spoke of his passion for public safety, calling it the one issue that crosses all party lines and unites the broad spectrum within the Republican Party. “Public safety is one issue that speaks to all residents of Johnson County, regardless of their political affiliation,” Howe said. “In my administration, public safety, not politics, will be my top priority.”
Kent Pekarek, a former United States Marshal for the State of Kansas from 1981 to 1994, will assist Steve's campaign as a laision to local law enforcement within Johnson County. Pekarek said, "As a former law enforcement officer, I was impressed with Steve's performance as an Assistant District Attorney. I am pleased to endorse Steve's candidacy for the office of Johnson County District Attorney." Pekarek has recently retired as Assistant Director from the United States Marshals Service.
